How Salary Calculator Works
The calculator first works out your total working hours per year (hours per day × days per week × weeks per year), converts your entered figure to an annual salary, then derives the hourly rate from that. Daily, weekly and monthly figures are calculated from the hourly rate using the same hours-per-day, days-per-week and weeks-per-year assumptions, and monthly pay is the annual figure divided by 12.
How to Use This Tool
- Enter your known pay amount and select which period it covers.
- Adjust the hours-per-day, days-per-week and weeks-per-year assumptions if the defaults (8, 5, 52) don't match your schedule.
- Select Convert to see the equivalent hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual figures.
Example
An hourly wage of $25.00 at 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 52 weeks/year equals $200.00 daily, $1,000.00 weekly, $4,333.33 monthly, and $52,000.00 annually.
Helpful Tips
- If you get unpaid time off, reduce "weeks per year" below 52 to get a more realistic annual and monthly figure.
- Part-time schedules should use their actual hours per day and days per week rather than the full-time defaults.
- Monthly pay is calculated as annual ÷ 12, which is the standard used by most salaried payroll systems, rather than weekly pay × 4.
